Older houses, long histories
Much of Electra's housing dates back decades, so many homes have been through several rounds of drought and flood and, sometimes, earlier repairs. A house that was shimmed or piered years ago may have moved again. If you have old repair paperwork or a pier log, find it before the evaluation; it helps the contractor see what was done and what's changed.
What contractors look at
- Evidence of earlier repairs and how they've held up
- Crawl space framing, shims and moisture
- Exterior grading and downspouts on wide, flat lots
- Brick and drywall cracks that have been patched before
Permits
Electra runs its own permits. Ask the City of Electra whether your foundation or drainage work needs one.
