Foundation repair in Burkburnett, Texas

Foundation evaluations and repair for Burkburnett homes near the Red River, north of Wichita Falls.

Burkburnett sits close to the Red River where Interstate 44 meets State Highway 240, about ten miles north of Wichita Falls. It had 10,939 residents at the 2020 census. The town was laid out after rancher Samuel Burk Burnett sold land for a railroad in 1906, and it took its name at the suggestion of Theodore Roosevelt, who had come for a wolf hunt. Oil was found west of town in 1912, and by 1918 some 20,000 people had crowded around the field, the boom later shown in the film Boom Town. The population grew again after Sheppard Air Force Base was established nearby in 1941.

What should Burkburnett owners watch for?

Houses here range from older frame homes to newer brick subdivisions, so both crawl space and slab problems come up. Pay attention to how water leaves your lot. On flat or gently sloped yards, roof water that isn't carried away tends to sit along one side of the house, and the clay there ends up wetter than the rest. A shade tree on one corner can do the opposite. Either one sets up uneven movement.

What contractors check here

  • Where downspouts empty and whether water pools by the slab
  • The slope of the yard and driveway toward the house
  • Large trees within reach of the foundation
  • Shims, piers and moisture in older crawl spaces
